The Lethargics Shove Aside The Myths And Lies With Southern Living

the lethargics continue their quest for the true stories and sounds of Life in the Southeastern U.S. with the four-song EP Southern Living released on June 1, 2024.

From the grip-and-rip rock opener Wasteland Of The South to the bittersweet real country of Goodbye Is Always Implied, the lethargics create the music of the hard rains and harder droughts that are what life is about - both in the South and elsewhere.

From their first official release in 2021 to Southern Living, the genre-deniers that make up the lethargics band have insisted on leaving the grit in the message while attempting to present engaging music relying on guitars and thoughtful lyrics. Much like the Appalachian Foothills where they were born, raised, and reside, there is an undeniable, even if unseen, hardpan underbelly to their songs.

the lethargics are nothing if not authentic, so you will not find fake or exaggerated Southern accents, songs about dirt roads or pickup trucks, or a load of made-up nostalgic crap for a land that never existed.

You will find fully absorbed musical influences from years of Rock, Blues, Country, Soul, Punk, Dance, and Jazz music played with honesty and passion - and maybe even occasional skill.

You will also find stories of people marginalized and dismissed who live real lives with real circumstances in a hard land of even harder truths, people born with the taste of ashes in their mouths.

As the lethargics mostly-leader Darrel puts it: There is beauty in the sadness and sadness in the beauty. This is true Southern Living.
