Steinsdotter Mourns The Betrayal Of A Friend On “Out of Body”

Betrayal always stings, but you can still appreciate the good times shared.

As celestial alignments herald the arrival of her new release, “Out of Body,” London-based enchantress Steinsdotter continues to push her artistry to its very limits.

With a sound, persona, and aura that invites the extraordinary, Steinsdotter’s releases blur the lines between absolute magic and reality. Able to captivate off the strength of her vocals or compelling lyrical content and narratives, Steinsdotter’s ability to excel at both has made her one of the most exciting prospects in the business.

Although Steindotter’s mysterious and ethereal artistic persona may indicate a certain level of aloofness, part of her charm is her willingness to be vulnerable. Her releases sometimes feel like therapy, as if her music becomes her medium for an emotional outlet.

Fittingly for an artist of her creative caliber, Steindotter’s artistic plans for 2024 were also incredibly creative and further added to her air of mystique, with the London musician committing to dropping a project every full moon of the year.

Crafted in collaboration with the esteemed Agon Branza, Steindotter’s latest release, “Out of Body,” is a captivating offering that has a dark, underground/alternative pop feel. “Let’s go out of sight, out of body / out of mind,” Steindotter sings, the tiniest hint of sorrow tinging her voice.

Reflecting on the track’s deeper meaning, Steinsdotter hopes to shed light on the heartbreak of losing a friend while offering solace and comfort to those navigating similar experiences. It’s a frankly refreshingly look at an issue that isn’t discussed much in the industry, and we can’t wait to see what the next full moon will bring us.

Through her music, Steinsdotter shares her journey of personal relationships and perseverance and illuminates a path for others to seek their own as they get swept up in her dark soundscapes.

Welcome to Buzz, Steinsdotter! We loved "Out of Body" and think its inspiration was also fitting! We had to ask what the creative process was like for this release.

Thank you so much. That makes me so happy to hear that! I decided to release a new song every full moon this year - so that has been very exciting! But of course, every song is very different, seeing how I’m such a genre-bender - and “Out of Body” was my first kinda feel good clubby tune of 2024, so I was very curious how people would receive it! I wrote the lyrics long ago, maybe years ago - when I felt very low. But listening to it now just makes me wanna go out and dance in the sun.

What's your favorite part of the creative process in general, and what was your favorite part of seeing the vision for this release come to life?

There are many layers to making a song and then releasing it. To be honest, I’m one of those obsessive music nerds who is completely in love with the whole lifestyle of it. Ask anyone; I don’t have a life outside my creative process now! I just live it and breathe it.

One of my favorite parts of the creative process is to be in the studio with Agon Branza with a fresh idea and watch as that idea grows big, juicy wings! I wrote “Out of Body” about friendship and how it touches our hearts, so I should love the collaborative part of creating. It’s all well and good, what I can create alone, but you never know what you can create with someone. It’s always a surprise when artists merge - watching and observing what it becomes is part of my joy.

What goals do you want to achieve through your music?

I want to travel the world on a tour bus with my band! And sleep like a pile of kittens between all the instruments! I love connecting with people through music, whether musicians I’m playing with or fans who show up for a live gig. I’m in love with everything about it.

What does music mean to you?

I think music is my love language in the world. I’m quite shy, but somehow, I can unveil myself a little more through music and poetry.

What's next for Steinsdotter, and is there anything you'd like to say to your fans?

Other than I love you? We have big live tour plans coming up! We'll be playing some gigs in London this summer and maybe going around Ireland for a bit! I’ve never been to Ireland and want to see it all! I've got a naughty song coming through for summer 2024, so come to a live gig, and let’s go Out of Body together!
