The captivating and dynamic Cali-based songstress continues to impress with her “pink metal” style.
In a landscape often dominated by genre purists, Shaynie Rhoads looks to flip the scene on its head with her unique sound. Rhoads, a passionate, guitar-slinging headbanger from Oceanside, California, has captivated audiences everywhere with her distinct twist on the genre, aptly dubbed “pink metal.”
With riffs that harken back to the glory days of 80s metal and a vocal style reminiscent of 00s teen idols, this talented artist redefines what it means to be a rockstar with every release.
This month marks a significant milestone in Rhoads’s career as she celebrates the re-release of “Dynamite,” a single from her early days as an aspiring pop artist. However, listeners are in for a treat; this isn't just a simple reissue.
Armed with heavy guitars, explosive riffs, and a fierce new attitude and cadence to go with it, the revamped “Dynamite” is set to transport listeners back to the days of glam bands and neon lights, all while maintaining a metal edge that’s both upbeat and unabashedly feminine.
From the first note, listeners of “Dynamite” are treated to powerful and breathtaking guitar play that instantly sets the bar high. Rhoad is more than up to the challenge; her vocals are spunky and passionate and work perfectly with “Dynamite’s” instrumental performance.
For any skeptics who might’ve doubted Rhoads’s ability to make her “pink metal” work, “Dynamite” stands as surefire proof that it works and sounds good, too. Channeling greats like Judas Priest, Guns ‘n’ Roses, and Metallica, Rhoads has impressively created a style that is nonetheless unique yet equally as captivating.

Welcome to Buzz, Shaynie Rhoads! We loved “Dynamite.” What an awesome twist on your original release! We had to ask, how have you changed as an artist from when “Dynamite” was originally released to now? You’ve gone from pop to metal, what do you think sparked that change?
Thank you! I grew up on rock 'n' roll and had always wanted to be in a metal band. I did the pop thing for years because I thought it was what I was supposed to do, to be accepted. Eventually, I realized that I wasn't being true to myself and that I was missing out on playing music that I actually loved. Forming a band taught me that being an artist isn't about being accepted but rather doing what you believe in, and I've since gained the confidence I needed to start taking my music in a more authentic direction. This doesn't mean I don't like pop or that it doesn't still influence my sound. It's more like heavy metal wrapped in pink, sparkly packaging. I call it "pink metal."
What’s your favorite part of the creative process for making music, and what’s been your proudest musical moment so far?
I love the feeling of writing a new riff and being stoked on it. Writing has never come naturally to me, so when I come up with something that I don't hate, I'm having a good day. In the process of creating the new "Dynamite," my producer and I had to work our way backward, writing riffs and licks for a harmonic structure and vocal melody that were already in place. We put a lot of effort into giving it that characteristically sassy hair metal flair while maintaining the integrity of the original song. I am really happy with the way it came out.
What does being able to create and share your music with your fans mean to you?
Music is a form of expression. It allows me to articulate certain feelings or memories without relying solely on words. I like being able to bare my heart without saying too much.
What is the most important quality for a musician to have?
Work ethic. Without a doubt.
What’s next for Shaynie Rhoads, and is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?
I'm developing the genre of pink metal further, and I'm really excited to show everyone what it's all about. "Dynamite" is just a taste. Be ready for more!
