Samuel Pierre, a promising new voice in the R&B scene, has officially released his debut single, "The Way You Were." Dropped on May 31, 2024, the track is now available on all major streaming platforms, marking a significant milestone for the Irish artist.
Samuel Pierre hails from Drogheda, Ireland, and has been deeply influenced by legendary artists such as Stevie Wonder, Frank Ocean, Mariah Carey, and Brandy. His love for R&B, gospel, and soul began in childhood and has shaped his musical style, which blends rich, emotive vocals with contemporary R&B rhythms.
"The Way You Were" is a heartfelt composition that Samuel co-produced with Irish producer mollyfourtimes. Written in 2022, shortly after Samuel turned 18, the song reflects a period of significant change in his life.
"The song was written after finding myself in a new chapter in my life and struggling to cope with the change," Samuel explains. "It's written to be a love song and talks about a person, but it's really about missing the way things were before and the way that I was before all of the changes in my life. It is written as a heartbreak song but I've never been in love, so it's not actually about that."
Samuel Pierre's journey into music has been fuelled by his deep-seated passion for R&B and his desire to create songs that resonate on a personal level. His debut single is just the beginning, as he aims to bring his unique perspective and sound to a global audience.
