From Los Angeles, California, Rising Elijah is a hard rock band that brings a modern spin to vintage heavy metal. The band consists of four members; Chase Enriquez on the vocals, Peter Razo on guitar, Ian Shea as bassist, and Chris Blackavar on the drums. Rising Elijah is fresh to the hard rock scene having released their first single “Shoot ‘Em Down” in January, 2020. Since then, they have been featured on the Klos morning show and played at many venues including Lucky Strick Live, the Garage Bar, and the Viper Room.
Their next single “Silent Death” was released in April 2020 and brings fans more of their heavy energy sounds. “Silent Death” has a riffy guitar intensity throughout the whole song. Chris pounds on the drums with traditional heavy metal style, captivating fans with the hardcore beat. Chase Enriquez also has a typical rock voice and he shows off his impressive range in “Silent Death.” The modern spin comes from Rising Elijah’s unique vocal trills and the guitar riffs. Both Peter and Ian display their musical talents with impressive riffs and solos. As a group, Rising Elijah effectively holds true to conventional aspects of hard rock while mixing in their own personalities.

Welcome to BuzzMusic Rising Elijah! Each of your talents as individuals were optimized in the creation of “Silent Death.” Can you tell us how you worked together as a band during the curative process of this song?
Raz (Guitar player) sent out the riff to us. We work on the parts individually and then jammed it out for a few weeks at a rehearsal before gig'n it. We recently got a new bassist, Ian Shea, so when we first recorded it Raz originally played the bass parts on the record, and then last minute before wrapping the album we were able to get Ian in there and redo the parts. He gave it a different feel, really gave it some drive.
Can you tell us about the message behind your lyrics in “Silent Death?”
It's about not giving in to your vices. Whether it's substances, say gambling, or even hatred. That stuff will slowly chip away at you, quietly, until you're "too far gone."
You have played at many notable venues and also been featured on the Klos morning show. You won the stay or go segment of “Frosty, Heidi, and Frank.” How have these experiences helped you grow and evolve as a band?
Yeah the FHF thing was really cool. We all listened to KLOS coming up. All these experiences are just the leveling up process. Each one gets us better for the next one.
Why did you choose the name Rising Elijah for your band, and what does it mean to you?
Originally Raz had an idea of making a comic book-like character called "Elijah," and he would kinda be like a mascot. But we couldn't get the right illustration. It kept coming out more cartoony and less badass. Haha. So we scraped that but kept the name cuz it just kinda had a good feel. A good symmetry written down. Chris (drummer) knocked out the logo. We may circle back to the character idea down the line if we can get the right image.
What can we expect to see from you throughout 2020?
Heh. Well with all this pandemic shit going on it's kinda hard to say. All our gigs canceled etc, every musician and band is really just caught up in all the uncertainty of it all. Our debut album is wrapped - so we're kinda just in a holding pattern waiting to see how all this shakes down. We'll probably do some live streams from our rehearsal place but hopefully, we can get out there soon and start gig'n again.
