Chicago artist ‘Kechi (born Ikechi Chijiuba Ihemeson), brings back serene jazz and R&B vibes with his delicate yet moving compositions.
Raised in the Southwest suburbs by Nigerian parents, ‘Kechi drew creative inspiration from his everyday experiences. He was able to channel his endeavors through singing, lyric writing, composing, piano playing, and poetry.
Putting this all into action, ‘Kechi recently released his highly anticipated sophomore EP titled “The Light’ on January 25th of this year. His style is a unique blend of R&B/soul, gospel, hip-hop, jazz and classical and is described as “sophisticatedly simple.”
'Kechi's latest single, “Just,” opens with clear, serene vocals backed with a keyboard-modulated light xylophone. ‘Kechi’s clear vocals create an incredibly placid piece while giving the composition some rhythm with a light drum beat about a minute in.
‘Kechi’s falsetto dazzles while delivering tranquillity and minimalism. “Just” is a mesmerizing piece that provides food for the soul that keeps you hungry for more. We've been following 'Kechi throughout the last year, and "Just" is one of our favorite songs by this multi-faceted artist.
