The Los Angeles trio continues to impress with another strong release ahead of their second studio album.
They aren’t maniacally overproduced, nor anywhere near the other extreme of exclusive lo-fi purists. However, Los Angeles outfit Petty Human Emotions has found a sweet spot that’s impressed listeners in a big way.
Formed in early 2023 but already rocking out crowds with their electric presence, the transparently independent alternative rock outfit has quickly become known for its tight, energetic shows. Although they may be the new kids on the block, you’re going to want to keep an eye out for these rising stars.
As they gear up for their highly anticipated second album “Outside,” Petty Human Emotions aren’t taking their foot off the gas; it’s full steam ahead. Although the band’s first album was a solo effort by frontman James Nardiello, he states that “Outside” allowed each member to leave their mark and lean into their style. Although this might seem risky, especially for a new band, their impressive chemistry once again results in a product that feels like the band’s been playing together for years.
As the first single for “Outside,” expectations for Petty Human Emotion’s latest release, “Lady in the Lake,” will always be high. And they should be; on “Lady in the Lake,” Petty Human Emotions again prove that their artistic ability and musical vision are top-notch. It has all the hallmarks of an early alternative classic: the somber guitar gently easing us into the soundscape, sardonic self-awareness combined with thoughtful lyrics, and rolling drums and booming vocals later. Written in memory of a friend who drowned years back, “Lady In The Lake” is a touching tribute and a standout record.
Despite “Outside” being their sophomore release, “Lady in the Lake” proves that Petty Human Emotion more than has what it takes. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and stream “Lady In The Lake” now on all majour streaming platforms.
