Monica Moser Taps Into Self-Aware Vulnerability (and a fresh dance-pop vibe) in Her New Single, “How Lost I’d Find Myself (without you)”

Monica Moser hopes her new single can be your song of the (late) summer.

“How Lost I’d Find Myself (without you)” is the final single to premiere before her full-length project, 27teen, releases in the fall! Collaborating with Nashville-based producer Dylan Byrnes (who produced her most-streamed song to date: “Shortcut”), the upbeat, impassioned song celebrates that the risk and compromise of letting loved ones in is always worth it.

Moser also makes a subtle reference to the Harry Potter series in her song: describing the subject of the song as her “Mirror of Erised,” which is a nod to one of her favorite parts of Potter folklore.

The “Mirror of Erised” is a magical mirror that shows “the deepest, most desperate desire of our hearts.” The name “Erised” is “desire” spelled backward, as if reflected in a mirror. The happiest and most satisfied person in the world would look in the mirror and see a reflection of themselves, exactly as they are.

“You often hear that love is a mirror: I loved the idea of that person exposing your ish but also reflecting you back to yourself, exactly as you are.” Monica Moser said on her TikTok page.

Monica Moser leans heavily into the indie/alt. pop side of her artistry on “How Lost I’d Find Myself (without you),” even pulling in dance-pop and EDM production elements in the instrumental breaks.

Moser plans on releasing a couple more versions of the song later this year (an extended edition and remix), and it will be featured on her upcoming album 27teen, releasing on September 27th! You can listen to 27teen (the beginnings) everywhere you stream music.
