Lilly Moss Pulls The “Trigger” On A Powerful Country Anthem

Born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the rising country star Lilly Moss fires off her latest single, "Trigger," a bold and empowering track from her upcoming debut album Meet Me on Broadway.

Moss found solace in music during her battle with childhood leukemia. Her journey from hospital rooms to stages across the country has shaped her into a passionate artist with a voice that demands attention. Moss draws inspiration from a mix of country and pop icons, crafting songs that speak to both the heart and soul.

"Trigger" showcases Moss's growth as an artist and her ability to blend country grit with a powerful message. The song is all about standing up for yourself and taking control, wrapped in a catchy country-rock package. If Lilly hopes anything, it's that the song "gets you fired up!" says the artist.

Expanding on "Trigger," the track kicks off with a heavy country-rock introduction, drenched in wailing guitars and powerful drums. Moss's vocals are both fierce and vulnerable as she sings about reaching her breaking point. The imagery of a loaded gun serves as a clever metaphor for a woman who's done being pushed around. It's a song that makes you want to pump your fist and sing along at the top of your lungs.

What really sets "Trigger" apart is how it balances its tough exterior with genuine emotion. Moss isn't just angry—she's standing up for herself and others who've been wronged. The song's catchy hooks and driving beat make its message of empowerment impossible to ignore. It's the kind of track that leaves you feeling stronger after each listen.

Welcome to Buzz, Lilly! We're loving the powerful energy of "Trigger." What inspired you to write such a bold, empowering song?

I think that, growing up, the songs that I had always loved the most were songs about women's empowerment, taking back, and owning their strength. Trigger is a song that blossomed from that very concept.

The gun imagery in "Trigger" is really striking. How did you come up with that as a metaphor for standing up for yourself?

I love songs that have a hook that isn’t necessarily direct. A hook that’s either a play on words, a metaphor, or some other form of indirect lyrics. Those are my favorites because the meaning is left up for interpretation by the listener. For this song, specifically the lyrics, pretty much came to me, and the line, “Load and pull the trigger,” is the metaphor I am talking about. It could be taken literally, but in my definition, it's not literal; however, it is the idea of executing, whether taking back your power, using your voice, or standing up for yourself. Pulling the Trigger is the action of doing just that.

"Trigger" has a strong country-rock vibe. How does this song represent your musical style compared to your other tracks?

Trigger is definitely a song that stands out when compared to the rest of my songs, but I think it is one of the songs that best represents who I am as an artist. Songs that are powerful with a deeper back story to them are songs I love to listen to, so Trigger is a song that I hope gives the same experience to others as well.

You've overcome some major challenges in your life. How does that experience influence your songwriting, especially on a track like "Trigger?"

I feel that what I have overcome influences my songwriting because everything is deeper than what’s on the surface (in my lyrics). As I mentioned, I love the deeper side of things; however, I want my songs to be relatable to everyone. When I listen to my music, I will always know the story behind why I chose the words I did and the story that is linked to that song, but until I share that, no one would know, and because of that, listeners have a way of making my songs their own. Trigger for me is taking back my power and freedom outside of everything I have gone through and being grateful for every moment and blessing I have been given.

What do you hope listeners take away from "Trigger?" Is there a specific message or feeling you want them to experience?

Strength. The biggest thing I want to push with Trigger is Strength. No matter what you are going through, Trigger serves as a reminder to take back your power, strength, and to stand up. Sometimes, you can’t be afraid to pull the “Trigger.”
