Kathryn Cloward is a True “Warrior Woman”

Kathryn Cloward is an award-winning singer/songwriter who has released four full-length albums including her most recent “Ripple Love” 11-song album with her uplifting empowerment song, “Warrior Woman."

Her music provides a fresh perspective of lyrical storytelling and aims to be relatable for audiences from all walks of life. Along with being a brilliant lyricist, Kathryn blends her soulful melodies and engaging musical arrangements to introduce herself as a passionate woman and the journey of transformation she’s been on. Her songs create a sense of comfort for those going through similar experiences ultimately letting the listener know they are not alone.

“Warrior Woman” pours through with an intimate, breathy vocal, a detailed story-line with imagery and scene-setting, and a simple guitar part; all of which is laid bare in a near acoustic manner, reminding listeners that this is an artist and musician more than ready to grace small and big stages alike.

There’s no doubt that “Warrior Woman is a powerful work of art. There’s a charming simplicity to the beautifully intriguing lyrics and a simple and rather addictive melody line. On the other hand, there’s plenty more at work, and the more closely you pay attention, the sooner the conversation gets underway. Absolutely worth discovering and I look forward to hearing more from Kathryn Cloward.

Hey Kathryn Cloward! Great to be showcasing some of your new music on BuzzMusic! Tell us more about your personal upbringing within the music world?

Someone said to me that I’m a late bloomer in the music industry. I replied to him, “I’m not late. I am blooming in my right time.” I released my first two albums three weeks after turning 41. Many women don’t like sharing their age but I am totally fine with it. Those years brought forth wisdom and strength I didn’t have when I was younger. In the past four years, I’ve released five albums, four Kathryn Cloward albums, and one for my children’s brand, Kathryn the Grape.

Do you believe that the way you intend to communicate your messages through your music is easily received by your listeners?

I certainly hope my message comes through clearly. While I know I'm not everyone’s cup of tea, I am aware that those who need someone else to put a voice to lyrical stories about life’s struggles and triumphs appreciate my authenticity. That’s fulfilling for me to know.

“Warrior Woman" was an incredibly versatile and catchy track. Where did you draw the inspiration to create this particular type of sound?

I have always been very interested in Native American culture and Shaman wisdom. I worked with Producer Jeff Berkley on this track. He knew I wanted a tribal shamanic sound to come through and he did the electric guitar playing on the song to get those amazing effects you hear. I am really happy with the feel of the song and the vibe it shares with others. It’s different from most of my other songs and I like that.

What can you tell us about the lyrical depth within “Warrior Woman”?

I was inspired by the lyrics of "Warrior Woman” as I was emerging as a more whole me. I found myself less self-conscious and less concerned about pleasing other people. This song is an expression of that. It’s very much an anthem for me and for other women who have heard it.

It was awesome to be able to present “Warrior Woman” here on BuzzMusic! What do you think is next for you as an artist? Where do you hope to progress within the next couple of years?

I just finished writing an album of songs with another artist for their solo artist debut. We will be in the studio recording that in January. Then, I plan on knuckling down with getting my next Kathryn Cloward album done with its release in 2020. I love creating, writing, and sharing. I desire to keep doing what I do, and I hope to help more and more people through my music.
