"Pronto" has such an infectious energy. What was the creative process behind making the track, and what message do you hope listeners take away from it?
Going to the club the night before, I woke up with high energy with a strong sense of urgency to put my foot on the gas even more and to pop my shit & send a statement that my time is not coming.. my time is now. So, I had to express that emotion and experience by doing what I love & do best.
You've had quite the journey—from Toronto to Brooklyn, and now rising in the music industry. How have your roots shaped your artistry and sound?
I’m inspired by what my life presented me with. It’s authentic, it's natural. Both my parents are from the Caribbean, the island of Grenada. That culture is in me. Then also being born in Canada and moving to Brownsville, Brooklyn, NY, where I basically grew up, is the reason you hear those fusions of genres in my music.
Your music blends many influences—hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeats, and more. Who are some of your biggest musical inspirations, and how do they influence your style?
I'm inspired by artists like Drake, Tory Lanez & Vybz Kartel. Their sense of making timeless music it’s what inspires them. The music I make is made to stand the test of time.

I wanted to make a statement and message that Jay Swishes is someone to watch & pay attention to because I’m moving and it’s to the moon.
With your momentum picking up and people vibing with your music, what's next for Jay Swishes? Are there any upcoming projects, collaborations, or surprises we should be on the lookout for?
Merch is on the way as well as working on a tour right now. I also got the next ep project ready to go working on a date for it but definitely collaborations that I can’t speak on at this time but just know it’s coming.
