We’re engrossed in the sounds you offer up in, “Melt With U.” How long did it take you to create and record this song?
Thank you so much for having me. When it comes to the amount of time it takes for me to create a song, ideally that depends on the concept of the song. When creating “Melt With U” the concept pertained to thoughts and feelings I have for someone, so the process of creating seemed quicker because I had a vision of what I wanted to write about. “Melt With U” took anywhere from 45 minutes to write and recording was around two hours. Studio time always seems longer because I like to make sure all the vocal harmonies are in sync with the lyrics and instrumental.
Could you please take us into what it was like working with your team in order to portray such a distinct sound in, “Melt With U?"
Besides some producers and engineers, my team is usually my friends. I enjoy having them as support in the studio when I work. “Melt With U” was produced by one of my favorite producers TRBL. He is not only talented and versatile at what he does but he is someone who I consider to be a great musical mentor. He sent me a beat pack to my email and I chose which one caught my attention. I chose this instrumental for “Melt With U” because it had a very unique Electronic, Pop kind of feel to it. I recorded “Melt With U” at a well-known studio in Los Angeles, with an engineer I worked with frequently. Around the time I wrote “Melt With U” I was listening to a lot of 80’s Pop music. There’s a popular 80’s song by Modern English called “I Melt With You”, that is where I got some of my inspiration from. Other inspiration came from just pure thoughts and feelings I had in my mind about a person. Someone that I felt a deep connection for but couldn’t gravitate towards because of location and obstacles holding us back. That’s where the lyrics start to make sense. Usually, I like to write about things from experience and then give my listeners a chance to relate.
How does this song hold up to other songs in your musical catalog?
What makes “Melt With U” stand out from other songs in my catalog is definitely the sound. When it first plays you hear this soft-spoken girl and then all of sudden your on an emotional roller coaster when the breakdown hits. It’s my very first Electronic/ Pop style song in my catalog as well. I think I was aiming towards a certain kind of demographic. I believe I created this song for listeners who have a passion for Electronic music. I would say “Melt With U” truly embodies that kind of ambiance.
With your style always taking influence from a variety of genres and sounds, what can we expect from you in future releases?
I’m constantly being inspired everyday by different sounds and genres. Lately, I’ve been inspired by Afro Beats and Neo-Soul so that’s definitely something you might hear In my music in the near future.
What can we expect to see next from you?
Next, I will be releasing an EP. It will have 5-6 songs mainly themed around the idea of lovers trying to reunite their flame. All the songs will be produced by TRBL who produced “Melt With U”. I’m hoping to definitely reach the hearts with this project.
