Fred Waves Casts His Worries Away In “Feel It in My Bones”

The Swedish musician continues to impress with another strong release.

Fred Waves, the brainchild of Berlin-based Swedish musician and producer Fredrik Sundqvist, is an indie rock project that has been well in the making for the past five years.

Although the project's origins are rooted in Sundqvist's hometown of Katrineholm in Sweden, it would only fully take shape during the pandemic, finding its creative footing first in Berlin, then later in Florida. Having already garnered significant buzz with his standout debut single "Take My Time" last December, the young maestro looks to build on his already impressive resume with his new release "Feel It in My Bones."

Fred Waves' journey has been a vibrant and dynamic one. From his formative years playing in local Swedish bands, Fred's insatiable appetite for everything musical allowed him to mature as a musician far earlier than most. Having sunk his teeth into the music scenes in Sweden, Berlin, and Florida, he also honed his live skills, aspiring to be the best musical version of himself. Having spent significant time penning and writing his music since 2019, Fred is finally ready to release his music on his terms, and we can't wait to see what else he has in store.

"Feel It in My Bones," Waves' latest creation, is another striking testament to his musical genius. As expected, the instrumentals are perfectly organized, with a soft, comforting guitar opening the song and a similarly soothing drum performance. Waves' vocals feel like an intimate confession, dropping lines like "I feel like we should pop our bottles and spray / We're insignificant anyway" and "I think it's time I throw my worries away / I guess I don't need 'em" with a cadence that speaks straight to your soul. Although it's a little early, the future for someone with Waves' talent seems incredibly bright.

"Feel It In My Bones" is a dreamy, reflective anthem that harkens back to the essence of Fred Waves' indie-rock ethos. Whenever you're ready, tap in and stream "Feel It In My Bones" by Fred Waves, available now on all major streaming platforms.

Welcome to BuzzMusic, Fred Waves! We loved “Feel It In My Bones”; what an incredible performance! We had to ask; you noted that the creative process for this song took place in a couple of different countries, right? What did your favorite part of seeing your vision for this release come together?

Thank you so much; very glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, that’s right. I go where the music takes me, which has been to several places. My favorite part of the process must have been to see the dynamics and the energy of the song change when it went from being played by me alone with sampled drums and bass to being played by the whole band that is now creating the sound of this project. I’m very happy to have been working on this with such highly dedicated people!

You’ve been exposed to a couple of different music scenes during your travels. Which scene would you call your favorite and why?

They’re so different it’s hard to pick one. I loved being in Florida and seeing how alive the music scene is. It was a great experience playing 4-hour gigs, sometimes two gigs in one day, and learning what high-energy live music is all about. Right now, however, I feel very much at home in the cultural jungle of Berlin. There’s endless inspiration here, and the city still surprises me after years.

What’s been your favorite part of your musical journey so far?

Without a doubt, all the shows I’ve played sharing the stage with brilliant musicians from all over the world. It never gets old.

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard it before, and if listeners could take one thing away from your music, what would you want it to be?

Honest indie rock with a touch of psychedelia and heartfelt lyrics. It’s all about exploring creativity, mixing things together to see what happens. I love the excitement of just letting the river flow.

What’s next for Fred Waves? You mentioned you’re touring soon. Can we expect to hear more new music soon, and is there anything you want to say to your fans?

We’ve been busy in the studio lately, so plenty of new songs are coming out throughout the year. We also have a few gigs lined up, and we’re in the process of getting more. Going out to share the music live with the audience is our priority now. Hope to see you out there.
