First, thank you for your kind words about the song! “LA Will wait for Me,” is such a special song to me because California is like a second home. My aunt and uncle live out there, and I’ve taken many trips out to the golden coast to visit them. I always look forward to the days we spend in Los Angeles, especially. Due to COVID, I haven’t been able to see them and be in my favorite place. So, as a songwriter, I turn to music to express what I’m feeling. I’m lucky to have written “LA Will Wait for Me” with my friend, Madison Young because she has ties to Los Angeles as well. Above anything else, this song reminds me that one day, I’ll be home again. The choice to make the production fun and upbeat was definitely a conscious and thoughtful one because this is a very hopeful song and it brings the California sun to me every time I listen to it.
Could you please take us into the debut for when you first performed “LA Will Wait for Me?” How was the reception from your audience?
I still have yet to perform this song live because I haven’t gotten the chance to book live shows as of now. However, I performed “LA Will Wait for Me,” for the first time, virtually, on my Sessions, Live show the day after the release. Based on the love this song is receiving, it’s clear many people are connecting with it. I’m especially grateful for the support the UK has shown me, from interviews to radio airplay, and much more. I can’t wait to perform the song for a live audience hopefully soon.
From the creative process to the release, what has been your favorite part of bringing this song to the public?
By far, my favorite part has been making so many incredible connections in the music industry and receiving more love than I ever dreamed of. Since I’m primarily a pop songwriter, it was a big leap for me to release a country song. I was nervous that I wouldn’t be accepted into the country music community, but I shouldn’t have worried at all. Everyone welcomed me with open arms, and I’m blessed for everyone I got the chance to connect with since the song released. The support I’ve received has helped me overcome my struggles with confidence and self-doubt, and that’s all thanks to everyone who took a chance on me and became part of my songwriting journey.
What are you hoping that your fan base takes away from the message radiated in this track?
I would love my fans to remember that the hard times aren’t forever. People all over the world are missing their favorite places, and the past year has definitely been extremely difficult. Whether or not someone’s favorite place in LA like mine or not, this song sends a hopeful message of reunion and brighter days ahead. Our favorite places will always wait for us to come home, and “LA Will Wait for Me” serves as this reminder.
What can listeners anticipate to hear next from you?
I couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come. The lead single off my debut pop album is releasing on May 21. The song is called, “Will I Ever,” and it’s one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written. The album, Dear Diary, is coming in the fall. I’m so excited to share these songs because they’re truly my story. I wrote “Will I Ever” and the other album songs 100 percent myself. It’s so important for me to be honest and authentic, and the music coming this year is exactly that.
