Hey Tauros! Welcome to BuzzMusic! It’s such a pleasure to be chatting with you. You seem to be an artist that puts a substantial amount of thought into your lyrics! Who/what has inspired you to be the artist you are today? Thanks for noticing. I spend a lot of time writing and tweaking my lyrics to make it fun for the listener and when I have something to get off my chest or something that requires more heart It can take weeks. My inspirations come from all across the board. Smokey Robinson and Prince just to name a few are next level songwriters that I truly love!
"Without U" seems like a deeply personal track. Is vulnerability something your fans can always expect from your music? Can you tell us more about this particular song?
My listeners should not expect anything from my work I’m constantly evolving and changing and I will try just about any genre of music LOL! “Without U” was written at a time when I was letting my career come before my love life and all the people I love in general which a lot of artists do today just to become successful. I realized you never miss a good thing till it’s gone and I had to learn the hard way but writing about it and sharing it with the world was the best therapy.
It's no surprise that "Without U" garnered so much success! With over 30k streams and 10k views on Youtube, would you say this track is your greatest accomplishment as an artist so far? What is your ultimate goal as an artist?
Yes, it is my most successful piece of music to date and I’m very proud of it because it has substance and so many people loved it instantly. That feeling is amazing for an indie artist. My ultimate goal as an artist is to touch as many people with music who want to listen and have a legacy like the greats that I mentioned earlier.
It's so incredible that you were able to direct the music video for "Without U", you're a truly independent artist! What was the filming process like?
Directing the video was not easy but I knew to go into it that it was going to be a lot of work. I mapped everything out just the way I envisioned it with storyboards, test shots, casting and all. With very little resources I managed to pull it off. Hats off to full-time directors though. The filming, lighting and editing process is not for the faint of heart! LOL
How has moving from Detroit to Los Angeles influenced you as an artist? What has been the biggest challenge you've overcome?
The move from Detroit to LA needed to happen at the time I had outgrown Detroit musically by winning the biggest talent contest there and then there was nothing left to do there. The biggest challenge I overcame was commitment. LA has a lot of distractions when it comes to the industry. You have to stay focused and keep working to survive. Thank you so much for chatting with us. What's the next move for you artistically? Are you playing any shows in the near future? Thank you for having me. I’ve been doing a few spot dates here there as I tweak my show. I want to incorporate more live instruments and visuals to make it more of an experience so really that’s what’s next and more new music. I write and produce new songs every day.
