Drey Marries The Old With The New On Her Haunting, Yet Alluring New Single, “Everywhere, Everything”

The talented songstress tries her best to bridge the divide.

Hailing from the state affectionately known as the “Heart of Dixie,” Alabama-born pop singer, songwriter, and producer Drey has steadily been carving a space for herself with a sound that strikes a comforting balance between the nostalgic and the new.

Her music pulls threads from the timeless craftsmanship of Fleetwood Mac, the introspective pop of Gracie Abrams, and Taylor Swift’s emotional storytelling, resulting in tracks that reverberate universally through an artistic lens that’s unmistakably hers.

Every great artist has their own sources of inspiration and a unique approach to music. To that end, Drey sees songwriting as a puzzle, piecing together songs with an intuitive understanding of what fits, often visualizing a track before it’s entirely written.

She got into music early, eventually taking the impressive step to music production at 21. With a fanbase on the rise and a sound that marries classic and modern, Drey’s music presents a fresh yet resonant perspective that’s captivated her fans.

Drey’s latest single, “Everywhere, Everything,” captures her ability to craft moods as much as melodies. Written and recorded over just four days in her home studio, the track taps into a kind of haunting allure that mirrors its lyrics—a melody that’s as unsettling as it is entrancing.

As Drey softly sings lines like “I’m right here if you want me” and “I remember the way I screamed your name,” you get a soft impression that Drey’s reaching out to a lover that she can’t quite reach, conjuring the sensation of being watched.

The production, crafted in collaboration with her husband, was written and recorded over 4 days in Dray’s home studio. It blends a spooky ambiance with polished pop hooks, capturing her talent for weaving an eerie sense of intimacy into familiar pop structures.

With a sound that marries classic and modern, a growing fanbase, and, most importantly, genuine love for what she does, Drey continues to establish herself as one of the most enticing hidden talents in the business.

We loved your new release, “Everywhere Everything.” it’s awesome that you and your husband are able to collaborate and make good music! So we wanted to ask; you mentioned you normally have a feel for what a release is gonna feel like before you write it. How did you first visualize this release?

This release started out as a Halloween-inspired song about feeling like you’re constantly being watched. The melody came from an old ghost decoration I had, and I saw the song as being whimsical in nature. So, this song really took the form of a ghost for me, and I love the way it turned out.

What inspired you to take that initial step to pursue music seriously, and what motivates you to make music now?

I have always loved writing and telling stories, and discovering that I can create experiences through songs is truly like an addiction. It’s the high of finding the hit in the melody and the rush of listening to the complete project.

As someone who’s so creative yourself, what do you think is the most important quality for a musician to have?

Flexibility for sure. Sometimes a song takes on a different meaning than you might have wanted and it’s important to be able to roll with the changes and follow the song to completion.

What’s your fondest music-related memory?

My grandfather loved to play guitar when I was younger, and I loved listening to him noodle and hum.

What’s next for Drey, and is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?

We are currently working on an EP and several cool tunes!
