Chicago artist Dane (formally known as Dejuan Dangerfield) is back with his latest hit “Cash Rules”. To help establish his career as an artist, he relocated to Los Angeles during his teen years. With a style he calls “Contemporary R&B”, Dane drew inspiration from icons like Micheal Jackson and Usher. Without abiding by the music industries “cookie-cutter” genres, Dane’s sound is a modern mix of soul, blues, and trap. He strives for his music to translate his life experiences and struggles while sharing personal stories with those willing to listen. “Cash Rules” includes a well-known sample from the legendary Wu-Tang Clan right before the first verse, almost saluting the legends coming before him.
The song screams hype, from the complex production to Dane’s incredible flow. “Cash Rules” portrays Dane’s lyrical abilities with catchy modern trap/r&b production. Clearly finding some sort of middle ground between old school and modern-day hip hop, “Cash Rules” includes a variety of production techniques that perfectly shape the song's entirety. His genuine lyrics come across clear as day, as he preaches authenticity and being nothing but real. “Cash Rules” is an impressive melodic Hip Hop track, ready to push it’s way up the charts.
