Calgary's hip-hop recording artist and tenacious rapper D.O.M of DnD blesses our speakers again with a new 20-track album, World D.O.Mination II.
Deep into the hip-hop game in 2015, D.O.M. of DnD started covering Eminem tracks in middle school and was later inspired to try his hand at spitting bars. Falling head over heels for the process, D.O.M. quickly made a name for himself while joining the rap supergroup Splinter Fraction. He's enjoyed working alongside acts like Rick Ross, Rittz, Krizz Kaliko, and many more.
More recently, D.O.M. of DnD dropped a jam-packed new album that brings listeners deeper into his always-evolving songwriting journey. With heaps of killer features and pristine production, it won't take long for World D.O.Mination II to make its way over to your speakers. Check it out below.
The album starts with the intro track, "I-1," a fierce opener that introduces listeners to D.O.M. of DnD's relentless approach to his music career and his ability to emerge as a winner amidst life's trials and tribulations. With heavy drums and dark, eerie melodies, this track perfectly sets the tone for the album while keeping listeners hooked with D.O.M. of DnD's incredible flow, not to mention the stimulating production from Ukrainian producer KCREWW.
Track two, "How 2 Win," continues the eerie and mysterious melodic vibe with piercing synths that make way for the hot and heavy beat. D.O.M. of DnD wastes no time jumping into this track with authority, walking listeners through how he continuously manages to come out on top of the independent rap game. The minimalist yet impactful production from KCREWW perfectly rounds out the song to emphasize D.O.M. of DnD's powerful lyrical message.
If you're a fan of chill, lo-fi hip-hop, feast your ears on track number three, "3nder Wiggin. " It melts the speakers with smooth melodies reminiscent of a 1999 Joey Bada$$. With production from Private Work and his dusty drums and wavy Rhodes, D.O.M of DnD smacks the speakers with bars about what he's witnessed and experienced in the rap game and why he's become so distant. It's a reflective tune that feeds the soul.
Onto track number four, "W4R DOGS (ft. Hus Kingpin and Anno Domini Beats)," we sink into another chill, lo-fi tune featuring hazy production from Anno Domini and the reflective, thought-provoking verse from Hus Kingpin. With samples of D.O.M.'s dog barking and two sweet-sounding verses dedicated to this sweet pup, D.O.M. of DnD honors his furry friend for being by his side most sharply and compellingly possible.
Traveling back to the prime era of boom bap is track number five, "EXTREMI5T (ft. Jadakiss, acid messiah, and Anno Domini Beats)." This relatable and groovy track sees Anno Domini's record scratches and uplifting, boom-bap production paired with a killer verse from Jadakiss and introspective bars from acid messiah and D.O.M. of DnD. The recurring theme? They all manage to take things too far, even when guided in the opposite direction.
In the mighty and dark sixth track, "NA6ASAKI DISPOSAL (ft. Tragedy Khadafi & Yukmouth)," we're met with a powerful verse from D.O.M. of DnD that attacks the speakers with authority while Tragedy Khadafi and Yukmouth round out the sides with massive features alongside KCREWW's heavy boom bap production. This might be one of our favorite tracks on the album, oozing with talent and confidence from every angle.
On the seventh track, "7Eacup Grip (skit)," we're met with the album's first interlude, which sees D.O.M. of DnD confessing personal thoughts about why he seems to perceive things negatively. With melodic piano samples that rain down from above, this self-produced track concludes with D.O.M. of DnD realizing that his pessimistic inclination results from longing for what he doesn't have and not appreciating what's in front of him.
In the album's eighth track, "PIN-UP L8DIES (ft. Pacewon & Grammashouse)," we're greeted with some powerhouse, experimental production from Grammashouse that sets a stellar groove. With a killer, cut-throat verse from Outsidaz member Pacewon, D.O.M of DnD picks up the baton and takes over with heated bars about his experiences with friends making fun of him. It's playful yet incredibly serious all in one.
The speakers continue sparking with track number nine, "Phosphene 9as (ft. Inspectah Deck & Temper)," which starts off with a kickass verse from none other than Wu-Tang member Inspectah Deck. The song's lo-fi production paired with D.O.M. of DnD's introspective and personal bars make this song a treat for the ears, not to mention the impressive feature from a member of one of the most respected groups ever.
Upping the energy is the album's tenth track, "MU1ONY (ft. C.Ray)," increasing the intensity and power with a fast-paced trap beat from the skilled production of KCREWW. Impressively, D.O.M. of DnD takes on a quicker, more complex flow while showcasing his hip-hop prowess alongside C. Ray's seriously catchy hook. If D.O.M. of DnD makes one thing clear: the grind never ends, and he's always looking for the next opportunity to level up.
Landing on the album's second half with track eleven, "SHE11 SHOCK (ft. Bishop Lamont, Young Buck & Anno Domini Beats)," we instantly sink into a more profound, darker boom-bap atmosphere from producer Anno Domini. Bishop Lamont kicks off the track with power and emotion, and D.O.M. of DnD invites Young Buck from G-Unit to close the song with heavy-hitting bars that showcase his ability to come out superior in the face of adversity.
Reaching the twelfth track, "AR-12 (ft. J.L., Krayzie Bone, Twista, Wrekonize, Wyshmaster & Anno Domini Beats)," we dive into a killer 5-minute collaboration. With a combination of Wyshmaster and Anno Domini's trap production, D.O.M. of DnD takes his first verse with a quick chopper-style flow alongside hip-hop veterans Twista, Krayzie Bone, Wrekonize, JL of B Hood, and Futuristic. It's a dynamic, engaging track that grabs our attention from the get-go.
On track number thirteen, "13 Rules To A Gunfight (skit)," D.O.M. of DnD blesses us with the album's second interlude. With his own uplifting yet muffled production and samples of gunfights, D.O.M. of DnD dives into personal themes of how he's managed to not only maneuver his way through the rap game but stay on top of it. An ominous, dark edge adds a layer of intensity to the record.
Heating the hip-hop scene is track number fourteen, "AR-14 (ft. Swifty McVay & Anno Domini Beats)," pounding through the speakers with a dark, orchestral boom-bap vibe from Anno Domini. At the same time, Swifty McVay scorches the scene with harsh, powerhouse bars that hold nothing back. D.O.M. of DnD's similar gritty verse is throwing punches left and right, keeping our heads bopping and toes tapping from top to bottom.
Here's a feature we didn't expect. On track fifteen, "MEMO1RE5 (ft. Xzibit & Anno Domini Beats)," we're greeted with a thrilling, punchy verse from Xzibit. At the same time, the D.O.M. of DnD trades bars and offers a dynamic back-and-forth over Anno Domini's dark, orchestral production. With themes of navigating life's peaks and valleys and how they change us as people, this reflective and exhilarating track
Another heated trap beat blasts through the speakers on track number sixteen, "T1GHT 6LOCK (ft. C. Ray & Bad Lucc)." KCREWW's dynamic and tight trap production leaves us hooked from the first beat. While D.O.M. of DnD kicks off the first verse, C. Ray's hypnotic hook leaves us singing his lyrics instantly, not to mention Bad Lucc's grimy verse that perfectly rounds out the track and leaves us nodding with stank face.
In the album's seventeenth track, "CONFL1C7 OF INTEREST (ft. Conway the Machine, Temper & DJ Flippp)," we dive into smooth-sailing soulful production over sweet samples and drum breaks, courtesy of DJ Flippp, Temper, and D.O.M. of DnD. While Conway The Machine hits the speakers with a classic Griselda verse, D.O.M. of DnD expresses the many keyboard warriors and how no one wants to beef unless they're behind the keys.
On track eighteen, "18+ ESTABLISHMENT (ft. Krizz Kaliko & Kato On The Track)," the groove continues with a more modern approach to hip-hop featuring killer production from Kato On The Track. While Constantine's catchy hook smokes the speakers, a rhythmic verse from Krizz Kaliko meets the ears while setting the scene perfectly. D.O.M. of DnD wastes no time jumping into themes of cars and broads, the finer things in life ;)
Do you wanna make it to the top of the hip-hop game? Listen to track number nineteen, "EN19MA CODE (ft. KXNG Crooked & Anno Domini Beats)." Packed with motivational and uplifting chords thanks to Anno Domini's skilled production, KXNG Crooked tackles the first verse with inspirational words about navigating the tough hip-hop landscape. D.O.M. of DnD's similar approach details his come-up, the perseverance needed, and the critiques received along the way, perfectly encapsulating the competitive hip-hop space.
Reaching the album's twentieth and final track, "G20 (ft. Young Buck & Anno Domini Beats)," D.O.M. of DnD ends the project on a high note with fiery production from Anno Domini that leads into Young Buck's tenacious verse detailing the perpetual grind no matter the circumstances. D.O.M. of DnD's catchy hook plays on the phrase "F*ck it we ball," reminding listeners that no matter what, he'll continue conquering the hip-hop scene if it's the last thing he'll do.
