Crash The Calm Release New Single, “Rope”

Sometimes, it feels like you’re barely holding on.

Formed in late 2014, Crash The Calm wasted no time making a name for themselves, quickly establishing themselves as a creative force with their well-received debut single “Holes” in 2015.

Willing to leave everything on the stage in their pursuit of musical greatness, Crash The Calm’s dedication and non-stop touring eventually caught the eye of Long Island-based label Downport Records. The rest, as they say, is history, as the release of their debut full-length album “How’ve You Been” at VuDu Studios saw the band hit even greater heights, captivating audiences with standout singles like “The Ambient Sound of Traffic” and “Irish Exit.”

If you’ve sensed a running theme here, there is one; Crash The Calm grind their asses off to bring their fans the releases they think you deserve. To achieve that, they keep working and honing their craft, pouring everything into their work. It’s hard to argue with the result of these efforts, too; the results speak for themselves. A split EP with Long Island post-hardcore band Staleworth was released to positive acclaim. At the same time, the similarly well-received concept record “A Town Named Nowhere” showed a new artistic side to the New York outfit, showcasing new artistic depth.

Crash the Calm’s latest release, “Rope,” is sure to be a hit with fans of emo and post-hardcore. Vocalist James says, “Rope was meant to convey the frantic struggle to feel fine. Like panicked breaths above water”. To that effect, beautiful, melodic lines like “With a smile like cocaine / I sleep like I am dying for a ride” and “It’s either west or in a casket / You’re either dead or laying down” eventually give way to chaos on lines like “My love, take me under / Go down / Go down.” It feels like they’ve perfectly captured the feeling of barely keeping it together; it’s a delicate balancing act for sure, but one they’ve done well here.

Pandemics, lineup changes; nothing looks like it’s going to get in the way of Crash The Calm’s ascent. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and stream their new release, “Rope,” out now on all major streaming platforms.
