The track starts with a catchy, upbeat melody that's impossible not to groove to. Brooke's voice shines, delivering lyrics with a mix of sass and sincerity that perfectly captures the song's vibe. Welcome to Buzz, Brooke Stilla! Congrats on your new powerhouse anthem, "over it." With such a bold and carefree vibe, what inspired you to write this song?

Hey Buzz! Thank you so much! I'm so glad that one of my favorite songs I've ever written is FINALLY out!!

Honestly, I was "over it." lol. I was over the guy I was with then and how he treated me. I felt so isolated in that relationship, and all I wanted to do was go out with my friends, write great music, and have a good time, and so I did!! I didn't want to think about all the things that were going wrong in my personal relationship. I'm such a wild soul and love to have a good time - no one can pin me down, yet for some reason, I was letting this guy do that exact thing... until I had enough! We have one life to live, and it's too short to say, "Poor little me." Instead, put your makeup on, head downtown, and enjoy life to the fullest!

Can you please tell us more about the creative process behind the production and how you achieved that sound?

Lucas Marston and I produced this virtually together. I recorded all of my vocals and comped them in my tiny 600 sqft apartment in Toronto and Lucas in Mexico. I've played this song live for the past 5 years before releasing it, so my guitarist (Alan Kulka) had started playing the iconic riff that Giordan Postorino came up with (one of the writers on the track) in his own unique way, so we went off Alan's guitar vibe from our live shows for the base of the track. For the rest of the production, Lucas and I decided we really wanted to take everybody back to the early 2000s.

Something we love about your artistry is that your music often features themes of mental resilience and empowerment. Why are these themes important to you, and how do you channel those emotions into your music?

Thank you so much! I truly do wear my heart on my sleeve and have always been a very vulnerable person. I'm not afraid to share how I feel and channel it through my lyrics and melodies. Music is therapy and always will be for me. Talking about mental resilience and empowerment is super important to me because they are both part of who I am. My ability to adapt and bounce back from adversity, stress, and challenging situations has always been prominent in my life. Growing up as a competitive dancer and singer from a young age, I always got so many "no's," and I still do to this day. But I never let it stop me from achieving what I want. I've been working on my EP project this year while healing from prolonged concussion symptoms that have lasted eight months, but I haven't let it stop me from working on what I love despite the pain I've been feeling. I have battled with a lot of mental health barriers, and I hope that by sharing my empowering messages through my lyrics, they land in the right ears and make those individuals feel like they are ready to take on the world, no matter the mental blocks they are facing. Staying true to who you are is a big message that I hope listeners take away from my music and that they never let a person dim their light!

What message do you hope your listeners take away from this song?

To live your best life, never let anyone dim your light. Stop pleasing people, stop living on someone else's terms, and be a little more selfish.

Your debut EP is set for release soon! What can fans expect from this new collection of music? Are there any particular songs or stories you're excited to share?

OMG!!! I am so excited!!! My debut EP "k bye" will be all yours on September 13th (It's a Friday too! Spooky, scary). It carries a mix of early 2000s, British pop, alt-pop, and a touch of Latin infusion, as well as K-pop influences. Fans can expect the ups and downs of a toxic relationship, finally letting go and making yourself a priority. I'm calling it my eulogy to my past relationship. What I love about music is that everyone inserts themselves as the main character and paints the picture and story how they want to. While I am truly excited for all the songs, I'm especially excited for "Killing Me." The music video touches on the visuals of my mental health and how it's part of me. No matter how much I dislike the anxieties, perfectionism, and irritability I struggle and continue to battle with, it is who I am, and I've had to learn how to love that part of me, too. All of the songs are very different and have their own vibe!
